Library Time:

Random thought:
Isn't it so fun to just go through the library and check books out. For some reason I find it fun to do, I can spent hours at the library doing nothing. I am so weird ? Right, Yes I know. I just realized time go so fast when I go to the library probably because I like being around books. This sounds so "nerdy" but it is true.

Comment if that happens to you too but also comment about any random thought. Freedom of Speech. LOL

Have a nice day !

Doing so much Homework that is due tomorrow which is why I am not typing a longer blogger post. Sorry for the inconvenience :D

Reading More Than one book at a time?

I totally do not know how some people do it. Yerp. You guys are all probably like what is this girl talking about?

Well I am talking about reading more than one book at a time. How is that even possible, I tried to do it but is just a big failure because I sometimes forget what happened in the other book or get the plots mixed up and at the end do not get what I read from any of the books. I am just the type of person who has to read one book at a time and then after I finish that book I start a new one.

That just totally came into my head while I was on Goodreads checking new books coming out in January 2013. Like OMG 2013 is going to be EPIC. All the books I see in Goodreads for 2013 look awesome and they are totally going to be on my bookshelf. I just hope we survive the end of the world (2012). HAHA I am just kidding I do not believe in that even though I have also seen the movie of what could happen which was called 2012. Loved the movie but I do not believe that would happen, that is my opinion some people might think other things. Well anyways back to what I was saying how do some of you guys read like literally 4 to 5 books at a time. I tried to read two books at a time once and I could not do it so I could never believe myself reading 4, 5, or up to 6 books at a time which is what a lot of people are doing to finish books fast.

Books are not to read fast, they are for enjoyment, people now read in a hurry to do book reviews, just enjoy the book and then do the book review. There is no point in rushing and playing with your brain reading 5 books just to have like 5 book reviews in one day. Some people do not even sleep reading books at times like your health is more important than not sleeping for two days to finish a book. Well I just exaggerated just sleep guys and continue reading the book the next day. I do have to say that books are amazing, some and they just make you want to keep reading without stop but you have to able to control your temptations. Okay too much talking, I am done. Douses :D

What do you guys think about this issue? well is not an issue, but about this that I just talked about.

Leave comments below :D Everybody can say what ever they want. Freedom of Speech. LOL.

 Have a nice day !
Reading for 24 hours straight:                                                   &
The Next Morning How People Literally Look when they wake up. I have to admit it has happened to me D:

How to Make Reading More Fun:

1. Read the book you are interested in ( not one your Humanities teacher forced you to read ).
2. Eat something before you start reading. (hunger while reading makes it really stressful and make the book seen extremely boring).
3. Drink hot chocolate, or Coffee, I prefer hot chocolate ! :D
4. Go to a really quiet place & comfortable as well ( I prefer a couch or in my bed ).
5. Pray that it starts raining ( for some reason I like to read more when is raining ).
6. Pray it stops raining when is time for you to go outside (LOL jk)
7. Read at a pace your comfortable with.
8. Imagine yourself in that position.
9. Just think about the book keep other personal thoughts away because it would just make you want to stop reading.
10. Do homework and chores before you start reading because as your reading your going to feel stressed by just thinking about all the things you have to do after you finish reading.
 11. Keep reading ! Don't force yourself to read more than you want because is just going to make you feel as if it a command to finish the book instead of a form of enjoyment.
12. Enjoy the book ! :D

>>Thanks for reading <<
Comment if you have any more ideas or if you agree or any other random idea in your head ! :D

Have a nice day ! ^.^

P.S. Here are some positions you could take to feel comfortable while reading. Warning some may may not work for you HAHA.

Skinny by Donna Cooner: (Reactions)

Omg I am half way in this book and all I have to say is that this book is amazing and it has taught me many things so far. A lesson I have learned is that people sometimes can treat someone badly just because they are overweight. Ever has faced lots of things and this book has made me understand that people go through a horrible experience when overweight. This book made me keep reading as soon as I finished the first page, no joke it literally did. I would have to finish the whole book to find out if this is really a 5/5 book but so far it is. I hope I do not get disappointed at the end.

Okay enough of me. What are you guys reading. Comment below and tell me if you are liking the book.

Have a nice day !

In My Mailbox (ARC) Yes!:

Splintered by A.G. Howard
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse and the whispers grow too strong to bear, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

Unless she fixes the things her great-great-great grandmother Alice put wrong, Wonderland will have her head.

Thanks,
Amulet Books for this GREAT ARC ! LOVING THE BOOK SOOO FAR ! :D

In My Mailbox: (ARC)

Astrid Jones copes with her small town's gossip and narrow-mindedness by staring at the sky and imagining that she's sending love to the passengers in the airplanes flying high over her backyard. Maybe they'll know what to do with it. Maybe it'll make them happy. Maybe they'll need it. Her mother doesn't want it, her father's always stoned, her perfect sister's too busy trying to fit in, and the people in her small town would never allow her to love the person she really wants to: another girl named Dee. There's no one Astrid feels she can talk to about this deep secret or the profound questions that she's trying to answer. But little does she know just how much sending her love--and asking the right questions--will affect the passengers' lives, and her own, for the better.

In this unmistakably original portrayal of a girl struggling to break free of society's boxes and definitions, Printz Honor author A.S. King asks readers to question everything--and offers hope to those who will never stop seeking and sharing real love.

P.S. By Hip Scouts,

Thanks :D

Ender's Game Book Review:

 Ender's Game
 By Orson Scott Card
by Tor Science Fiction
Published: July 15th, 1994

Winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards

In order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race's next attack, government agencies breed child geniuses and train them as soldiers. A brilliant young boy, Andrew "Ender" Wiggin lives with his kind but distant parents, his sadistic brother Peter, and the person he loves more than anyone else, his sister Valentine. Peter and Valentine were candidates for the soldier-training program but didn't make the cut—young Ender is the Wiggin drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training.

Ender's skills make him a leader in school and respected in the Battle Room, where children play at mock battles in zero gravity. Yet growing up in an artificial community of young soldiers Ender suffers greatly from isolation, rivalry from his peers, pressure from the adult teachers, and an unsettling fear of the alien invaders. His psychological battles include loneliness, fear that he is becoming like the cruel brother he remembers, and fanning the flames of devotion to his beloved sister.

Is Ender the general Earth needs? But Ender is not the only result of the genetic experiments. The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Ender's two older siblings are every bit as unusual as he is, but in very different ways. Between the three of them lie the abilities to remake a world. If, that is, the world survives.
Ender's Game is the winner of the 1985 Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 1986 Hugo Award for Best Novel.

This book was definitely something weird and new I have never liked a science fiction book until I read the Ender's Game I have to say that this book was a page turner for me. I had to read this book for my summer reading at first I was just like NO! I don't want to read a science fiction but I did like more than I expected.

First of all I liked the idea of how Ender went to military school at a young age in space. His brother Peter was expressed as pure evil throughout the book. Ender had a strong relationship with his sister Valentine, stronger than the repationship he had with his parents. Ender was taking to military school at the age of 7 and learned all the new skills fast. Peter was jealous of how Ender was chosen to go to military school but he wasn't. So, Peter hated his brother Ender A LOT because of this reason. Ender used to play a mind game who made him have lots of nightmares and feel depressed because he encountered lots of things that had to do with his brother Peter. Ender was always scared to be pure evil like his brother, he always felt bad when he had to fight or get into a battle with someone.

Valentine his sister was a really sweet girl which I adored and will forever be remembered by me because she was  always there for Ender during the good and hard moments during his life. Ender didn't quite fit at the beginning when he was taking to military school but later during the book he got more comfortable but of course also faced some struggles during some moments. The plot of this book was absolutely insane for me because I have never read something like that and the characters were all awesome except Peter which I hated because of his bad attitude towards my "brother" Ender. I loved how Scott wrote this book Yes I did find some of his writing hard to understand! but I got through it because my vocabulary was to complex for his hard words (just at times).

Do I reccommend this book?

Yes I do and I give this book a 4.5 /5

Love and Leftovers by Sarah Tregay Book Review:

Love and Leftovers

by Sarah Tregay

Published: Dec 27th, 2011

by Katherine Tegen Books

My wish
is to fall
cranium over Converse
in dizzy, daydream-worthy love.

(If only it were that easy.)

When her parents split, Marcie is dragged from Idaho to a family summerhouse in New Hampshire. She leaves behind her friends, a group of freaks and geeks called the Leftovers, including her emo-rocker boyfriend, and her father. By the time Labor Day rolls around, Marcie suspects this "vacation" has become permanent. She starts at a new school where a cute boy brings her breakfast and a new romance heats up.

But understanding love, especially when you've watched your parents' affections end, is elusive. What does it feel like, really? Can you even know it until you've lost it

This book wasn't what I was expecting I was expecting something I was going to absolutely love but it was just one of those books you read and get the same feeling if your reading it or not. I was dissapointed a little because Sarah Tregay is a great author but the book wasn't for me.

This book was about a girl named Marcie who used to live in Idaho but her parents forced to live in a new place (New Hampshire). She did not like the idea of being in New Hampshire and wanted to go back to her normal life to see her friends and her "emo" boyfriend. She had to start a new school with new people and she met this guy in which she got interested and had some relationships for him. But then her mom found something out and sended her daughter back to Idaho and she at first wanted to stay at New Hampshire and then some conflicts happened when she returned but then it all came back to normal.

This book was too obvious I always knew what was going to happen. I always like books were I never know what to expect but I have to say this isn't the worst book I have read but is not the best one either is in between. I would have liked if the book have had a better plot and have had a better unexpected ending were I would have been left thinking. After I finish the book I was just like this is over and kept thinking what if the author would have change some things would it have been better. This book is something you should read when you feel like reading a really really light book that is obvious.

I give this book 2/5 :S , I would only recommend this book if your never scared to read a book after a not so great review. I mean everyone is different I might have not liked this book but someone else might love it. YERP. Just saying.

                                                   Not really for me...

P.S. Leave a comment about anything related to this book... :D

Things I look for in a book:

1. Title
What do I mean by title?
I mean a title that sound interesting and that includes the main point of the book but doesn't give out what is going to happen for example if I see a book with a title of " I want BK" that is not going to catch my eye unless it has a cute cover.

2. Cover
Yes, Yes I know covers shouldn't mind because my mom always told me that the image of something or a person isn't really what is inside but I always try to get cute covers to make my bookshelf look absolutely amazing. I like creative original covers which show detail and makes my imagination travel to Jupiter.

3. Sypnopsis
An interesting mysterious info which includes the main idea of the book but does not tell too much of it either because I hate spoilers. I know I seen some books that I have bought in the past and then I realize the synopsis basically said what was going to happen through out the book and that is a big turn off for me.

4. Goodreads Rating, Book Bloggers, or Book Tubers
Yes ! all the books I have bought or checked in from the library are all books I seen other book bloggers or book tubers recommend. Goodreads is a great site were I always check how good or bad a book is. I know sometimes the rating is different than other people opinion's because everyone is different but my rating almost always matches Goodreads ratings and my fave book bloggers and book tubers.

5. The Length
Isn't that so embarrassing to say? Yes sometimes I don't want to read a book because of how big it is which is why I have not read Twilight series because the book scares me. My biggest fear is carrying that heavy book reading it and then realizing is not as exciting as I hope it to be.

6. Author
Sometimes I find that if I have read a book from an author and I loved it and like the author's style of writing than I would like the author's next books so I buy them to try out.

7. How it feels
Feels? Wth is this girl talking about?
Well what I mean by that is that you know those books you touch and they are rough I don't know how to explain it but when I hold a page I want it to feel normal. I know, I know your probably like let me skip this part because this girl is weird.

8. How it smells
Ewww? some books smell really really bad in fact the book I read called "Love and Leftovers" almost made me faint which is why I wanted to finish the book really fast because the smell was killing me. I had to spray febreze 4 times and it didn't work, that is how strong it was because Febreze is amazing it always heels bad odor. LOL

9. Plot
I have read books that basically have nothing to solve because the book is all about happy things. I like a plot that doesn't look fake, what do I mean by that? I mean a book that has a realistic plot. OMG you know what I hate? of course not I hate when I read an entire book and the freaking plot or problem wasn't resolved by the end of the book. So I end up thinking what would have been different if other events have had happened during the book. YERP.

10. YA
I basically like YA right now because I am a TEEN duh! lol well no! there are also other adults that like YA but I think when I grow up I would hopefully be reading adults book because that way my vocabulary would get better. if I read a adult book now I would be blanked out because I wouldn't understand half of the things the author says or because of the vocabulary. i think. YERP.

Well this are 10 things I look for in a book before I decide to buy it.

What do you look for in a book? Do you agree or dissagree with me?

* Don't forget to subscribe

Thanks
Have a nice day.

In My Mailbox on August 26, 2012:

Thanks to Sarah Tregay for this fabolous swags, neckclase and book.

Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout: ARC Review

I have to say that this book was absolutely a page turner for me a book that got me tied to it from the start. I love the characters even though at first I kind of hated them and believed the worst out of some characters. This book is about a girl named Ember who gets on a car accident with her parents and dies but her sister has a special gift that when she touches something she could bring it back to life. So Ember's sister revived her but now Ember has a gift that when she touches someone the person or animal (anything that lives) could die. Isn't that so strange ? which is one of the reasons I decided to keep reading this book to know if there was a way for her to control her gift. This book is something different I decided to read because I barely read books like this I mostly read contemporary romance books but this book got me tied up to this genre. Ember, her sister, and her mom got taken away by Hayden and his father to this mansion were she learned so many new stuff and intriguing things happened at this mansion that would leave your mouth opened.

For me something that I loved about this book is that there was never a moment were I felt bored from reading this book because on every page line or chapter there was something that made me get surprise happy or even amazed by. I love Jennifer L. Armentrout style of writing I would give her style of writing a 5/5. Hayden was my favorite character out of the whole book he helped Ember when no one else did and always said nice sweet things to her so she could feel better. The book included some romance in it which made it more exciting. At first when Ember moved to the mansion she did not fit in because some people hated her "gift" but Hayden was always there to help her and try to control it. Is this a book I would recommend people to buy and try? YES absolutely this book is a 5/5 stars for me and I guarantee you would like this book as much as I did, at least I hope so.

Thanks Spencer Hill Press for sending me this ARC.

Cursed Update:

I am about 30% in the book and I am seriously loving it the first chapter was a little too slow for me but then it went a normal pace the pace I like books to go. I guess all books have slow pace at the beginning because they have to explain and illustrate characters and setting and all kind of stuff. I have to say so far this is a 5/5 star book it is really a page turner and I am liking it more than I though I was going to like it. This book has been on my shelf for a full month and I was so lazy to read it because I though it was a really boring book that wasn't going to catch no interest in me but I am really liking it. But let's hope I don't get dissappointed at the end. :D

Comment if you would like to read this book if you have read it and liked it or any suggestions for my blog or anything random that comes in your mind because seriously there are so much random stuff I been thinking about lately lml. Have a nice day and enjoy this few days of summer until school starts omg just 2 weeks for my school to start oh no. :/ Lmaoo. Peace.

Just Release it Books I am unpatiently Waiting for:

Isn't it so frustrating when you finish reading a book from a sequel and you find out the other book is being release the NEXT YEAR I hate it because I am so inpatient for some reason but I also hate when they post awesomeee book sypnopsis that catch my eye and the book isn't released or takes to much time. Well this are some of the books I am inpatiently waiting for.
Comment with the books you are waiting for to be released ^.^

Warning: this are only some of the books I am impatiently waiting for if I gave you the full list it would take me a year (sarcasm attempt) but seriously my list is at least of 25 books.

Have a nice day hope you like and follow my blog ^-^

Thursday, August 23, 2012

My Reading List Pile:

1. Cursed Jeniffer L. Armentrout (ARC)
2. Saving June by Hanna Barrington
3. Yesterday by C. K. Kelly Martin (ARC)
4. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
5. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

I am Back ^.^

Hey I lost interest in reading books and posting on this blog for two weeks but I am back for good I promise. I am really sad how I have not read a single book for a long time but that was because I have not found a good book to get me out of this but I am going to read three ARC's I have to read before they come out. Reading is something that everyone should enjoy so I would look for the type of book that would make keep reading for ever but right after I finish the ARC's. If you guys have any suggestions for this thing kind of like a dead end were I just feel like I don't want to read because of television (TV Show) or the internet. What do you guys do when you get into the mood were reading a book just makes you tired, and you find any excuse to skip reading a book.

Thanks,
Have a nice day.

Surviving High School Book Review:

What would you do if you could not eat ice-cream! Couldn't have a boyfriend? or Have time to hang out with friends?
*I seriously don't know how I would react or do if I was in the position of the great character of Emily Kressler.

Awesome (Check)
Interesting (Check)
Page Turner (Check)

I seriously have no other words to describe this book, I truly recommend this YA contemporary with romance as well. This is my favorite genre out of all of them and I have to say that after reading this book it made my mood go from normal to excited. What are the reasons I have for my mood to go from normal to excited? no idea, probably it is because this book since page 1 (or may I say Page 4 were it really started) made me keep flipping the pages not only because the characters and the theme was incredibly awesome but it was all related to a girl who was following a dream of becoming a professional swimmer who competed and practiced a lot and did not have a normal life like the kids her age. Not only did she not eat ice cream.. Yes ice-cream! but she had to always sleep at a certain time she couldn't have boyfriends, or skip practices. Her dad was someone who pushed her a lot (too much I would say) but that is what parents do I guess they push a lot so us teenagers could pursue our dreams.

This book had a strong message which opened my eyes and thought me that it is really important to follow your dreams but not in a way that you miss on life and don't see your friends after school or have fun. Not only did this book had a strong message but it included romance as well.. What could I say? this book is complete book which I give it a 5/5 stars Yea stars! If I were you I would try to get this book and read it as soon as possible I truly recommend this book. I am not saying that everyone would love it because everyone has different opinions but what I am saying is that in my opinion this is an awesome book who has taught me a lot while reading it. I am glad Hip Scouts gave me the opportunity to read this ARC and see how awesome and exciting this book actually is. Well enough talk just go and try this book because I recommend it. Have a nice day.

Yay: Super Excited

I received Surviving High School by M. Doty (ARC) and I am really loving this book, I am 3/4 in the book so hopefully I would have this read by today and post a book review about this book. This book is a page turner it keeps me reading non- stop so I would have to leave you guys and keep reading this awesome book because is messing with my head and is telling me "Hida, Please come back to reading me". Lol that was a joke but really this book is absolutely amazing so hopefully when the book comes out in September you go buy it and read it or get it at your local library. Hopefully I won't be dissapointed at the end on this book. But anyways have a nice day it would go back on reading this book. Talk to you guys in a few hours after I am finished reading this book.

I finished my summer Program!

So I would be back to making the book reviews of all the books I have gotten this month. Which is really exciting because I really missed a lot reading all the books. You know what was painful receiving Pandemonium and Delirium by Lauren Oliver and having no time to read it (not only this two books but more exciting ones as well). But today I would start reading all the arcs and book reviews I got in my mail this month. So Welcome back to me :D Lml. Hope you keep track of all the book reviews I post so you find out a different opinion of a book. Thank you for being a follower ! And being an honest and faithful reader :D .

Have a nice day,

Well back to my reading and to Goodreads to find out all the awesome books that are coming out. So when I finish reading a book I would do a book review which would hopefully be soon to get back on track with my blog ^_^

Marhaba, Alkharmoor, Marhantein: (Hello in Arabic)

You guys are probably wondering why I am not blogging as much and also my reading piles are increasing and I don't even have time to read it. Well it is all because of Arabic, yea! arabic I am going to a school to learn Arabic from the morning to the afternoon including Saturdays which leaves me only Sunday's to read but I also have another school to go to on Sunday's so I have tried to read but I can't because I always have to be doing hw and constantly studying different concepts in the language of Arabic which is the hardest language I have seen in my entire life. If you have not seen it go to google and type Arabic handwriting and your going to see how hard it is to read write, and talk. So, sorry all of you because I actually said I was going to have a lot of free time in the summer but I actually got less. But after I finish with my classes of course I would come back and make all the blog posts, book reviews, author interviews, and awesome young adult books giveaways. But of course I would keep coming to my blog and posting some things but they would be fewer things than last months of course. Shukran (thank you in Arabic).

Sorry I haven't been posting lately:

I have been so tired because I am in this strict diet and I am exercising a lot so now when I get home from the gym is like I feel like going on bed and never getting up because of how tired I get. I am a little behind on my books to review but I promise this week I am going to try to read the books on every free time I have. The book I am reading now is really good I guess I just don't want to read it because of how tired I am and I just want an easy romance novel. But I am going to try really hard to be able to blog, read, and also do my personal things. I never thought doing so much stuff could get me so exhausted.

Comment if you ever felt like you just want to stay in bed for years and is even painful to move
because lately every part of my body hurts because of the exercising.
P.S. just writing this was exhausting I guess I need lots of sleep to get like I usually am. It is probably also because I am also having trouble sleeping which sucks....

Yea, yea who says that in public. I do because I believe at some point you guys would have figure that out yourselves. So why wait when I could just tell you in a few seconds. Okay, Let me stop. Hello: Abandon by Meg Cabot Update

Well I have to say I don't know why people are saying this book is bad and including all of those negative reviews because I am actually liking it so far, I don't know if people get disappointed at the end of something. But I have read up to the middle of the book and I have to say that this is a page turner. Even though this genre is not really my thing I still like it. I have not seen any romance in the book but I still think it is going pretty well so far. Well that is all I have to say. Have a nice day!

*Comment if you have read the book and tell me in which part it disappointed you or why you did not like it without any spoilers. Thanks :D

C. K. Kelly Martin Interview :D

Today has been a great day first because I bought C. K. Kelly Martin books called My Beating Teenage Heart and her other book called The Lighter Side of Life and Death. I finished reading her book called One Lonely Degree and all I have to say is that it was a page turner and absolutely awesome. On top of all of that I actually got to interview this extremely awesome author. If you have not read any of her books what are you waiting for because in my opinion these are books you must have.

1. I see you write a lot of realistic YA contemporaries, have you ever thought of writing another genre such as dystopian, paranormal romance, or any other?
Yeah, I love the YA contemporary genre to bits! But My Beating Teenage Heart has a paranormal element to it (one of the main characters is dead) and Yesterday definitely has sci-fi elements. Just this month I released an adult book (Come See About Me) with a twenty-year-old main character who is still grieving the death of her boyfriend when she falls into a sexual relationship with someone else. Because of the age of the main character the novel falls into the “new adult” category and I would love to write another “new adult” book in the not too distant future. Sometime I’d really like to write an eerie ghost story too. So basically I want to write a ton more YA contemporary books AND keep trying new things too.
2. How is your writing process? Describe it a little.
The process seems very mysterious to me. I don’t have much of a tangible method. Instead it feels sort of like being a medium. Usually I’ll just start hearing a character’s voice in my head in moments of quiet – when I’m lying down to sleep or out walking by myself. It takes a while to get to know them and figure out what their story is, but when I know enough about them I start writing down rough plot notes. I end up with a couple of sentences about each chapter and once that’s finished, and I’ve done any research that I need to, I start writing the actual book. But everything is subject to change when I start writing and get to know the characters and their situation better so it can turn out very differently from the notes.
3. Is there going to be a continuation to One Lonely Degree because I would definitely read it if there was.
I’m so glad you want more! I originally intended One Lonely Degree it to be the first book in a trilogy so it feels unfinished to me. Unfortunately, the market has changed a lot in recent years making it tougher to get books that aren’t paranormal, dystopian or otherwise high-concept traditionally published. But I’d never say never because I would love the chance to revisit these characters!
4. What is one memorable book you would always love (or your favorite you have read so far)?
I hardly ever reread anything because there are always so many new cool books coming out. I just finished Courtney Summer’s riveting new zombie novels This is Not a Test and couldn’t put it down and some other YAs from the past six months I loved were Amplified by Tara Kelly and Bronxwood by Coe Booth. But I’ve noticed the one book I come back to time and time again is one I first read in 1989 about a twenty-one year old aspiring actor who moves to New York to become an actor and falls in love with his roommate Emma.
This is the review for Emma Who Saved My Life that I posted on Amazon in 2008.
“I was absolutely crazy about this book in the late 80's and early 90's and reread it recently to see if it was as good as I remembered. Everything I'd loved about it - Gil's love affair with NYC, his infatuation with Emma, an overall feeling of hopefulness and youth - was as fresh as ever. I'm sure I'll read this book in another five, ten, fifteen years and still feel the same way I did about it when I first read it in 1989.”
 5. I know Yesterday is coming out on September 2012 is there any more books that would also be released?
I don’t have anything else under contract yet (keep your fingers crossed for me!) but I have two more YA contemporaries completed that I would love to sell. I’m also working on something else that I can’t talk about just yet. Hopefully soon…
6. Who was your favorite character in One Lonely Degree, and did you like writing the book? (mine was Finn).
Mine was Finn too! She sort of feels like a version of me. I was a lot like her at sixteen right down to the being crazy for music and wanting to go live in London. Of course, I love Jersy too. And, yeah, I absolutely savoured writing that book. I didn’t want to leave the characters behind!
7. What is the genre of Yesterday, your new book that is coming out because I have read the synopsis a lot of times and I can’t figure it out?
This is a good question and I understand your confusion because it doesn’t exactly fit neatly within a single genre. I guess I would categorize it as a sci-fi thriller but with a realistic 1985 setting. I read The Kirkus review for it a couple of days ago and one of the things it said was, “A vivid infusion of 1980s culture gives this near-future dystopia an offbeat, Philip K. Dick aura” which thrilled me to death.
8. What grade would you give me as an interviewer? (haha, yea I know kind of random).
An A! Because it’s obvious you’ve done your homework. Plus, your questions have a nice conversational vibe to them.

THEN: The formation of the UNA, the high threat of eco-terrorism, the mammoth rates of unemployment and subsequent escape into a world of virtual reality are things any student can read about in their 21st century textbooks and part of the normal background noise to Freya Kallas's life. Until that world starts to crumble.

NOW: It's 1985. Freya Kallas has just moved across the world and into a new life. On the outside, she fits in at her new high school, but Freya feels nothing but removed. Her mother blames it on the grief over her father's death, but how does that explain the headaches and why do her memories feel so foggy? When Freya lays eyes on Garren Lowe, she can't get him out of her head. She's sure that she knows him, despite his insistence that they've never met. As Freya follows her instincts and pushes towards hidden truths, the two of them unveil a strange and dangerous world where their days may be numbered. Unsure who to trust, Freya and Garren go on the run from powerful forces determined to tear them apart and keep them from discovering the truth about their shared pasts (and futures), her visions, and the time and place they really came from.
